Designed with simplicity in mind, our Sandbelt Courtyard project prioritises functionality and comfort, resulting in an enticing space for our clients to enjoy.
Our brief for this project was to create an inviting, simple, yet impactful outdoor space while ensuring the garden remained low maintenance. As part of a multi-complex development, we aimed to bring this garden to life in alignment with the corporate body while also adding the unique flair of our client.
In the front garden, we removed the lawn from the extensive nature strip and replaced it with a thoughtfully curated planting scheme. We introduced Gazania ‘Daybreak White’ and Rhaphiolepsis ‘Snow Maiden’, opting for a neutral colour palette that harmonises with the surrounding neighbourhood.
For the back garden, it was crucial for the client that we create a sense of spaciousness and enclosure without the addition of a roof. To achieve this, we incorporated Betula ‘Royal Forest’ and Carpinus betulus ‘Fastigiata’, which provide height and privacy while allowing for ample sunlight in the garden. We employed various rectangular shapes and positioned plants along the boundary line to enhance the perception of space.
The planting palette for the back garden drew inspiration from European gardens, featuring subtle pops of colour. We included Liriope ‘Royal Purple’, Tulbaghia violacea, Pittosporum ‘Miss Muffet’, and Hydrangea ‘Sundae Fraise’ to add visual intrigue.
The hardscaping elements of this garden beautifully tie everything together. We selected sawn bluestone paving and bench seats in the back garden, complemented by a Dromana gravel path in the front garden. The striking charcoal-stained timber batten screen and gate incorporate natural materials, enhancing the garden’s peaceful atmosphere.
