Our fabulous partners really do go above and beyond to make sure everything comes together by show time! The brilliant teams at Alliance Seeds and Anco Turf have pulled off the impossible this year, by growing us a beautiful meadow. We didn’t know if this would be achievable at the outset, but the fantastic thing about MIFGS is the camaraderie of our industry colleagues and their willingness to push the boundaries, to work with us and have a crack at something new.
The wonderful seed mix for our meadow was donated by Med. O seeds, a not for profit company exploring the potential of a sustainable alternative to lawn verges, mediums and other open spaces. With expert advice from both Bruce at Anco turf and Peter from Alliance, the seeds have been growing in trays up at Alliance Seeds in The Basin and are currently looking absolutely stunning.
One of the great (and challenging) things about the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show is that you can never be exactly sure how your garden will turn out, as there are so many things that are left open to chance. Attempting to create a meadow is not something that has been done before, and given we have no plan B, we are extremely anxious and excited for it to work!
We are yet to see how the meadow copes with being transported to the show and placed in to the garden. This is often the make or break time when it comes to planting! Either way, we are extremely grateful to Alliance and Anco for all their hard work and effort and we can’t wait to see how this turns out when the show opens in a few weeks time!
A very special thank you to Peter and his team from Alliance Seeds and to Bruce and his team from Anco Turf!
We’d love to hear your thoughts and are happy to answer any questions, so don’t forget to comment on our blog posts if you’d like to join in on the MIFGS discussion!
