Chelsea 2008

The Chelsea Flower and Garden Show in London is the world’s most popular flower and garden exhibition with a history of over 140 years. The show attracts top garden designers and contractors from around the world, with the gardens often being the starting point of new trends in landscape design.

In 2008 the Australian entrant was the Flemings and Trailfinders Australian Garden, designed by Patio Landscape Architects. The garden aimed to highlight some of the many natural products, textures and colours of the Australian landscape, while at the same time offering a practical outdoor lifestyle space.

Ian Barker and Associates were proud to have been chosen to construct the 200 sq metre show garden and to be part of such an auspicious event.

With the short time frame, a lot of the materials had been constructed already, this included the copper cages and the dry stacked wall consisting of over 3000 numbered pieces. The logistics and construction of such a challange was enormous, but one the entire crew looked forward too.

Ian Barker and Associates would like to thank all the sponsors that have given us so much over the last few months.Without your help and support it would have been very difficult to have created such a complex show garden in such a short time frame.
